Daisy Mountain Veterans to present a car to veteran

ANTHEM – The Daisy Mountain Veterans will host a ceremony and present a deserving Veteran with a car on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Anthem Veterans Memorial, located in the Anthem Community Park.

The recipient is Ryan Ockomon, who served nine years with the Army National Guard as a Tanker. He also served on Active Duty with his unit, securing the United States/Mexican border.

Since April 2016, Ockomon has worked at the Prescott National Cemetery through the VA’s Community Work Therapy program. He will graduate from the CWT program in April and is hoping to obtain permanent employment at the VA. The donated vehicle will provide Ockomon with dependable transportation to and from work.

This could not have happened without the generosity of Texas Roadhouse, patrons of Texas Roadhouse, The Crossroads Church, American Legion Post 128, and VFW Post 12031.

“The Veteran Vehicle Campaign is one of our signature programs. Nominees are considered and reviewed by the Board through an ongoing process. In the past three years, the Daisy Mountain Veterans have presented eight vehicles to local Veterans in need. We greatly appreciate the support and generosity of everyone involved with this program,” said Dennis Hider, President of the Daisy Mountain Veterans.

Hider will present the car at the ceremony with representatives from Texas Roadhouse, as well as members of Crossroads Church and the Daisy Mountain Veterans.
