A CSHS teacher appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's Educational Advisory Group
SCOTTSDALE – Jeff Walker, Economics & Entrepreneurship teacher at Cactus Shadows High School, was recently appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's Educational Advisory Group. He attended training, there where he participated in a Town Hall meeting with the Chair of the Federal Reserve, Janet Yellen.
Through a competitive process, only 20 teachers were chosen to serve as advisors to the Fed on educational matters. Aside from critiquing new educational materials, educators on the panel have access to a full-time economist working at the Bank and will also receive regular updates on Fed activities and economic analyses. Additional responsibilities include publicizing the Fed's educational materials at professional conferences and attending further training sessions both locally and in San Francisco.
Cactus Shadows principal, Dr. Steve Bebee, said, "Jeff Walker has been a welcome addition to the Career and Technical Education Department at Cactus Shadows High School this year. Jeff is a veteran teacher who brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the area of Economics and Entrepreneurship that helps our students to experience real world situations and scenarios they might not experience otherwise. We are very excited for Jeff's appointment to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's Educational Advisory and know that his experience will benefit him as a classroom teacher and the students whom he teaches."
