ANTHEM – Support the good works of the Anthem Giving Circle and bid on specialty handbags at Purses for a Purpose, happening on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 5-8 p.m., at the Ironwood Country Club.
This fundraiser features the silent and live auction of nearly 100 purses and the raffle of two new high-end designer bags. Guests will also enjoy hors d’Oeuvres and a complimentary drink.
This year’s fundraiser will be the seventh annual Anthem Giving Circle Purses for a Purpose.
The Anthem Giving Circle began in October 2007. According to AGC members, many other Giving Circles exist, located around the country. The Anthem Giving Circle was created by Bernice Volinsky, and she and Janet Langdon were the first co-chairs. The AGC has grown from five members at inception to over 35 members now.
The Anthem Giving Circle supports families throughout the north valley, receiving most requests through the St. Rose Conference of St. Vincent de Paul. Anthem Giving Circle is a member of the Network of Anthem Area Assistance Providers. According to AGC members, in the past year, they have donated to approximately 63 families. The AGC also provides financial support for the Foothills Food Bank. They provide support for local schools, donating backpacks, scholarships, gift cards, and supplies. AGC members donate their own funds to the good works of the organization to support these programs.
“We feel that this organization provides a way of connecting to those in need with those interested in helping,” Anthem Giving Circle members Dianne Christenson, Janet Anderson, and Sharla Powley wrote, regarding the importance of AGC in the community. “While doing important work, the group wants to have fun doing it and make a difference in our community.”
