Scottsdale Country Club donates to Foothills Food Bank
Staff Report ~ 01/06/2009

Terravita Golf and Country Club, a community of nearly 1,400 homes located in North Scottsdale, collected more than 1,200 pounds of food, a car load of toys and cash contributions for Foothills Food Bank and Research Center.
The six-week drive began Nov. 9 and concluded Dec. 19.
“It takes approximately 30 pounds of food to feed one person
for three days and if they had to purchase the food, we estimate it would cost $64,” Pam DiPietro, executive director of Foothills Food Bank and Resource Center said. “The majority of our clients are people who have fallen on hard times either through losing a job, getting ill or having some unexpected emergency.”
The food bank also offers financial assistance for rent, utilities, medical bills and auto repair when proof of need is given.
Terravita contributed $5,000 to the Foothills Food Bank earlier this year. The Foothills Food Bank was the beneficiary of the proceeds
from the fourth annual Taste of Terravita event in March, which featured the culinary delights from nine area restaurants and was attended by 330 residents.
